SPECIAL COMMENT:  "Where are all the lie pies about John McCain?" That's the $10,000 question, honey, because Granny ain't never received one.  In fact, neither has John McCain's "Truth Squad," apparently, because as of right now they haven't changed their website or posted a single internet smear since June 30th when they launched their site.

Compare that to what has been happening to Barack Obama. Granny gets lie pie after lie pie about Barack Obama--he's far and away the most popular subject in the Lie Piebrary.  Last time I checked Snopes.com's Hottest 25 Legends, Barack Obama was at #1, with a list of lies so long you had to scroll down the page to see them all.  Same with TruthOrFiction.com's top 20 stories--I just checked, and 12 of 20 items as of this posting are lies about Barack Obama.

When McCain's Truth Squad, LiePie.com, Snopes.com, and TruthorFiction.com can't scrape up any McCain lie pies worth mentioning, and Barack Obama is being so savagely and unfairly attacked by lie pies, I'd say it's a bit surprising to say the least.  Granny fully expected when I launched LiePie.com to receive an even distribution of lies about both candidates, but so far that hasn't happened.  Just to avoid any misunderstandings, I wanted to make it clear that the absence of McCain lie pies wasn't an intentional omission on my part.  I'm just as committed to defending John McCain against lie pies, but I have to receive one first, honey.

I love our country.  So do you.  Let's all behave accordingly.  Sleazy, lying vote swindlers betray all the patriots who've given their lives for our democracy when they cheat folks out of their votes at election time.  These contemptible charlatans sell out our elections in exchange for lucrative jobs as political operatives.  None of us should put up with it, not even those whose candidate might benefit from it.  It is a disgrace to remain silent in the face of lies that poison our democracy.

You can demonstrate that you hold our American elections and our democracy sacred by doing your part to help put a stop to this B.S.  Just send out a kind and respectful lie pie reply to all your fellow lie pie recipients each time you receive a lie pie between now and election time.  Let folks know that lying is simply unacceptible, especially at election time.  --Granny, 8/28/2008

UPDATE  (9/10/2008):  Other fact check sites are reporting the existence of inaccurate viral emails about Sarah Palin.  I will only post lie pies that I personally receive, where the email recipient chain is clearly evident.  I do not copy and paste viral emails from blogs, other fact check websites, or news reports.  I want to make sure that a lie pie is in fact "out there" in active circulation.  This became my personal policy early on because I realized that LiePie.com could easily become a vehicle to distribute lies rather than a resource to shut them down.

UPDATE (10/30/08):  Several weeks after I finally received the Sarah Palin "banned books list" lie, I still find that the inaccurate viral emails I receive are disproportionately anti-Obama.  Please visit Snopes.com, UrbanLegends.about.com, and TruthOrFiction.com and compare the number and quality of lies circulating about John McCain and Sarah Palin vs. those about Barack Obama.  I've received a torrent of lies about Barack Obama in recent weeks, most of them repeats, none of them about John McCain or Sarah Palin.  Please forward any viral emails you receive to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
