Lie Pie Title: Free Velveeta and Reynolds Wrap! Editor's Note: I've just learned about the scourge of counterfeit coupons. I received a viral email with two pdf files attached containing coupons for free Velveeta and Reynolds Wrap, so I visited the Coupon Information Corporation's (CIC) website to find out if they were legitimate. Not surprisingly, the coupons are counterfeit. Folks, if it sounds too good to be true, it's too good to be true. Some of these counterfeit coupons are outright hoaxes and you couldn't redeem them for a knuckle sandwich. Some counterfeit coupons, just like counterfeit money, appear legitimate and can actually fool retailers into redeeming them. You can check the CIC's coupon advisory page to find out if a coupon has been listed as a forgery. Let's get something straight, honey: if you know a coupon is counterfeit and you redeem it anyway, you are a thief. You might as well walk down the store aisle and fill up all the pockets of your trenchcoat with booty and saunter right out of the store with it. I'd be ashamed to do such a thing, and you should be too. We all pay for this kind of thievery in the form of higher prices at the store as well as in law enforcement costs to investigate and prosecute counterfeiters and racketeers.
Don't buy coupons off ebay, craig's list, or anybody else. Don't visit websites and provide personal information in exchange for coupons if you don't want to become prey for identity thieves. You might just get more than you bargained for when you go looking for a free lunch. You can check out the counterfeit coupons for Velveeta and Reynolds Wrap below. --Granny, 4/14/09 WATCH YOUR STEP: STEAMING VIRAL EMAIL B.S. STARTS HERE
