Lie Pie Title: In God We Trust: A Shock to NBC
Editor's note: The best part about the viral email below is its condescending, bullying tone. I'm sure Jesus would agree, if you want to win over folks who don't "believe that the word "God" should stay in American culture" you should intimidate them with the threat of mob assault. Jesus caters to nobody!
According to Snopes.com and UrbanLegends.about.com, it seems NBC conducted a poll several years ago asking folks if "under God" should remain in the Pledge of Allegiance. The question, "Do you believe that the word "God" should stay in American culture?" was NOT polled by NBC or anyone else. You might as well ask folks, "Should people continue breathing oxygen?" The human condition and our search for meaning guarantee that references to God in art, literature, history, philosophy, music, etc. are here to stay. Certainly folks have different ideas about God's existence, but completely removing God from American culture (or any culture) would be the equivalent of emptying the ocean with a teaspoon. You'd be a fool to try it.
If you'd like, you can read more about the Pledge of Allegiance and the motto "In God we Trust" on my blog. --Granny, 6/4/09
(Lower.......lower.......just a little lower....no, to the left. Your other left. Honey, it's that little square box that says, "Like." Click on it with your mouse. No, the...back this way, honey. No, that's too far. Good Lord. We are going to be here all day. We'll take a rest before you try to become a Facebook fan.)

A SHOCK TO NBC
I'll bet this was a surprise to NBC..
Do you believe that the word God should stay in American culture?
NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest Number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls, and the Percentage was the same as this:
86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of Allegiance
That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.
I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't..
Now it is your turn. It is said that 86% of Americans believe the word God should stay..
Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is such a mess about having 'In God We Trust' on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance.
If you agree, pass this on, if not, simply delete.
