Editor's Note:  Good Lord!  I just found out I can be charred to embers in my own bed by my cell phone!!!!!  How can your Granny get a wink of sleep with these terrifying viral email messages assaulting me day and night?  It's a wonder I don't soil myself each time I hear an email alert!

Thankfully, we have fact-checkers like Snopes.com and UrbanLegends.about.com to turn to or we'd all run screaming into the sea.  Long story short:  your cell phone isn't going to blast you into smoldering coals in the night.  Rest assured, you'll be eaten by a shark or run over by a bus driven by a shark long before your cell phone gets to you.   --Granny, 7/29/09

I've been guilty of this, but never again.


A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home.

Just at that time a call Came in and he answered it with the
Instrument still connected to the outlet.


After a few seconds electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground with a heavy thud.

His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.


He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Cell phones are a very useful modern invention.

However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument of death.

Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet!
